Rate My Professor Sherri Hughes

Dr. Sherri Lind Hughes serves as Program Director of the Executive EdD in Higher Education Leadership and Senior Lecturer in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies department at Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development. She holds a PhD and MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as a BA in Psychology from Davidson College. Prior to her current role, Dr. Hughes was interim provost and senior vice president at Fresno Pacific University where she led comprehensive restructuring and academic renewal. She previously served as assistant vice president of community strategy and engagement at the American Council on Education, directing the ACE Fellows program and advancing women’s leadership initiatives. For eight years she was provost and vice president for academic affairs and enrollment management at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Her career began as a faculty member at McDaniel College where she later became professor and chair of psychology, associate dean of academic affairs, and dean of graduate and professional studies.

Dr. Hughes has contributed to key publications on higher education leadership including the 2018 report Innovative Leadership: Insights from the American College President Study 2017 and the 2017 review Looking Back and Looking Forward: A Review of the ACE Fellows Program, both issued by the American Council on Education. Additional works address budget-driven program reviews in Change Magazine and women’s leadership development in Women in Therapy. Her earlier research includes personality profiles of ultra-marathon participants published in the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology. Dr. Hughes brings extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership development, and academic administration to her teaching and program leadership at Wheelock College.
